The State of Alabama is celebrating "Year of Small Towns & Downtowns" this year. On Saturday, October 30, 2010, the City of Chickasaw will celebrate this special-designated year as part of the city’s 64th Founder’s Day Celebration sponsored by the Chickasaw Chamber of Commerce and City of Chickasaw. Chickasaw, one of three small towns in Mobile County who received a historic marker, will commemorate this with a dedication at 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Viaduct Road and State Route 43. The marker will become part of the park that the city is designing for that corner, as an entrance into the Port of Chickasaw and the East Village residences. See the city's marker here.

Help Us Tell Our History Through Photos and Stories

We need your help in telling the rich stories of the residents of Chickasaw. If you have photos that you would share with us and allow us to use them in our visual photograph display, drop them off at City Hall at 224 N. Craft Highway. Put them in an envelope with your name and telephone number on, and they will be returned, unless you consider donating them. Did your ancestor play a part in the history of the city or did something funny or unusual happen in your life? Write it down and tell us what happened. You can send it to the Founders Day 2010 Committee, POB Box 11126, Chickasaw, AL 36671, drop it off at City Hall or email us from the website. Your stories are part of our history, our heritage and our legacy.
